Accelerated Dial-Up

How does it work?
When you request a page from the Internet or from an email message, Slipstream uses proprietary compression technology to significantly reduce the size of Web pages sent to your browser and improve your browser's caching ability. Previously viewed Web pages are retained and reused. The longer you use the Accelerator, the faster your Web pages will load.

After you have installed the Accelerator, you can set the compression ratio from "high" to "low." The higher settings enable faster download speeds, but the image quality deteriorates.

The lower settings will make for slower download speeds but sharper images. The Accelerator can be engaged and disengaged as needed.

What will be accelerated?
All text (HTML, markup and javascript), most graphics (including .jpg and .gif images), most banner ads (including animated .gif images and Macromedia Flash content).

What will not be accelerated?
MP3 files, executables and other compressed files (streaming media, audio and video files, and zip files), and files downloaded outside your browser using FTP.
